Biography

I received my PhD in Bio-Physical Chemistry from the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology in 1987 and my MSc in Chemistry from the same Institute in 1983. Prior to joining Laurier, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Zurich, Indiana University, and the University of Toronto.

The focus of my research is on the synthesis of new pincer-type ligands and their transition metal complexes, with particular interest in using the noble metals from Groups 7 – 9. We are developing highly efficient and practical catalysts for hydrogenation, dehydrogenation and coupling reactions involving aldehydes, alcohols, amines, esters, and amides as the reagents or products. A significant amount of my research is aimed at establishing good understanding of the catalytic reactions on the molecular level with the help of DFT calculations.

Funded Research

Our recent research has been funded through the NSERC Discovery and the LOF CFI programs.
