Kalyani Menon is an expert in consumer and manager sensemaking, consumer behaviour, consumer social responsibility, corporate social responsibility, materialism, metaphors and narrativization.

Biography

BA (Delhi University), MBE (Delhi University), PhD (McGill University).

My research focuses on enhancing consumer wellbeing, and has been funded by both external (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada; Transformative Consumer Research/ACR) and internal grants. Using a consumer wellbeing lens, I have conducted and published research on:

  • Consumer coping with negative service experiences; Service provider responses to negative service experiences

  • Consumer use and generation of WOM

  • Consumer (dis)empowerment

  • Customer commitment

More recently, I have published conceptual work on managerial sensemaking through metaphors and narrativization.

My research in progress focuses on materialism, consumer power, and moral imagination.
