Research Interests/Ongoing Projects
- Overall, my main research area is human rights in the humanities, which includes such issues as torture, migrants and refugees, children’s and women’s rights, global HIV/AIDS, the environment as represented in popular culture, literature and film.
- Since publishing Translating Pain: Immigrant Suffering in Literature and Culture (2009), I continue to be interested in issues related to immigrants and refugees, trauma, violence and healing.
- I also specialize in African literature and film, with particular focus on Nigerian third-generation texts.
- I'm also an expert in literary and film representations of Rwanda postgenocide.
- Currently, I'm working on a book project on African children's rights in literary, cinematic and cultural contexts.
