Biography
I received my Ph.D in Political Science from the University of Toronto, my M.Phil in the Sociology and Politics of Development from Cambridge University, and my BA.H in Political Studies from Queen’s University.
Prior to joining Laurier, I was an assistant professor at Southern Utah University, in Cedar City, Utah.
The main focus of my research is urban food security in Africa. Rapid urbanization is transforming food systems across Africa with important implications for feeding growing populations of urban poor who rely on cash economies while experiencing informal employment and precarious housing.
I am particularly interested in the nexus between urban food security with sustainable development, migration, gender, and governance, and the multi-level policy environments supporting anti-poverty measures.
My research centres on cities in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
