I received my PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of British Columbia in 1999, my MSc in System and Control Engineering from Queen’s University in 1994, and my Master of Engineering from Cairo University in 1988.
Prior to joining Laurier, I was working with Ontario Hydro, Canada (1990-1991), and I was working with the National Research Center, Egypt (1987-1990).
The main focus of my research is enhancing communication with the hearing-impaired by developing a software tool that can interpret sign language and then convert it to a spoken language.
