I completed my formal education at Wilfrid Laurier (BMus in Performance, BMus in Composition), University of Toronto (MMus), and at University of Waterloo (BFA, studio). These experiences afforded me the opportunity to spend time exploring and cultivating my artistic conceptions. Genres explored include: Jazz, Classical (especially Baroque music), and Avant Garde (or Free) music. A few examples of self directed studies have included learning Flamenco guitar technique as well as introductory skills in Sitar and Hindustani music.
In addition to classical music, my performance experience includes extensive contracts playing in show bands (pit band in musicals, cocktail/dance bands , top 40, tribute acts, country bands, funk bands, Jazz combos and bands, etc.). With an open attitude as well as discipline, Guitarists can become a part of many different genres and musical traditions.
Between these experiences on the bandstand and in the studio, I have adjudicated at various festivals and been artistic director with the Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival.
