Bio/Research
I have worked at Mohawk College since 2003 in a variety of capacities. I have taught in both the Educational Support and Child and Youth Care programs. I was the coordinator for the Educational Support program, Educational Support Intensive program, Child and Youth Worker Apprenticeship program and the field placement coordinator for the Child and Youth Care program. I have been the associate dean in the Department of Community Studies since 2006.
I obtained a three-year advanced diploma in Child and Youth Work from Mohawk College (1992), BA in Social Development Studies (Psychology, Sociology, Social Work and Interdisciplinary Sciences) from the University of Waterloo (2002), BEd from York University (primary/junior qualifications, 2003), Master of Education from Nipissing University(2015) and Doctorate of Leadership in Higher Education from Western University (2021). I also have certificates in Child Abuse and Social work from Renison College.
Prior to working at Mohawk College, I worked in children's mental health, custody for youth, and taught in both the Grand Erie School Board, and the Waterloo Region District School board. I am currently a part-time faculty member at Wilfrid Laurier University in the Faculty of Liberal Arts. I have a passion for teaching, life long learning and leadership in higher education.
