My experience as a classically-trained vocalist and music psychotherapist has shown me the unique ability the voice holds to connect inwards with ourselves, and express outwards with others.
I am recognized by the CRPO as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), holding a Master of Music Therapy degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a BMus in Vocal Performance from Brandon University’s School of Music in Manitoba. I hold experience providing music psychotherapy to individuals across the lifespan in various settings including hospice, paediatric palliative care, inpatient mental health and long-term care. In addition to LAMA, I currently provide creative arts/music psychotherapy services to children and adolescents at Bloom Child and Family Therapy in Kitchener, ON.
I discovered my passion for teaching adapted lessons after witnessing the positive impact learning an instrument and/or how to sing has on children and adults alike. Over the past two years I have taught adapted music lessons to individuals in supportive housing, alternative education programs, and as a volunteer voice instructor for the Community Music School of the Waterloo Region. My approach to therapy and teaching are informed by person-centred and anti-oppressive care which guide my goal of being an accessible, compassionate and politically-informed therapist/teacher.
My psychotherapy services may be covered by insurance. Please reach out for more information.
