Hello! I am a conductor, teacher, and mezzo-soprano and currently make my home in Kitchener-Waterloo. I hold a Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University (Education Specialization), as well as a Masters of Music (Choral Conducting) and Bachelor of Education (Music) from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. I am a registered member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
Teaching singing is a joy and a privilege. I am so grateful for all of the students who trust me with their voices, and I work hard to honour this trust through continued collaboration. Together, my students and I create goals for learning and work towards these goals in specific and measurable ways. Whether it’s classical, contemporary, musical theater, jazz - anything! All singing is good singing, and the path towards what kind of lessons students want is directed by my students and executed together. Everyone can sing!
I currently direct the Grand Philharmonic Youth Choir, and am a former member of the Hamilton Children’s Choir artistic team, leading their Esplori program. My past conducting assistantships include the Atlantic Girls Choir, Cantus Vocum Chamber Choir, and Opera on the Avalon. I am the past recipient of the JUNO Legacy Award (2022), the Gladys Whitehead scholarship for excellence in choral direction and vocal pedagogy (2018), and the Canada Post Community Scholarship (2013).
When I’m not singing and dancing around at my studio with my amazing students, you can find me curled up on the couch with my two cats and a good book.
