I hold an Honours Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Laurier.
I have been teaching piano at the Beckett School at Laurier since 1989. Although my degree is in voice, I studied piano with Garth Beckett, piano literature with Boyd McDonald and piano pedagogy with Lorraine Flatt. I no longer sing professionally, but that experience had a profound influence on my piano playing and teaching.
I am very active as a collaborative pianist, specializing in the string repertoire.
I enjoy starting young beginners on their musical journeys, emphasizing musical literacy and beautiful tone. I encourage my students to use their imaginations, and take pride in the fact that they do not sound like me, but rather like their own unique selves.
My goal is to instill a love of great music within my students, and to give them the reading, technical and interpretive tools so that they may continue playing and enjoying music for their whole lives.
