Currently, I am the Senior Advisor of Human Rights and Conflict Management for Wilfrid Laurier University. Additionally, I co-developed and co-facilitate Workplace Restorations for Queen's IRC and co-developed and teach Domestic Violence in the Policing BA for Laurier. For over 25-years I have been working with people and organizations in crisis, implementing community programs and developing institutional supports for people experiencing marginalization, victimization, harassment, discrimination and violence.
In 2009, I accepted the position of Safe Workplace Advocate at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital following an inquest into a murder/suicide that had occurred in the workplace. In this position, I acquired basic and advanced mediation training from Harvard University. Over a period of 2 years I was involved in the research and creation of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario Best Practice Guideline on Managing Conflict in Health Care Groups.
I am a mediator, a Crucial Conversations “train the trainer”, a facilitator and program and a Mental Health First Aid trainer. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in communication studies and sociology from the University of Windsor and an LLM from Osgoode PD at York University.
I am very interested in cross cultural mediation and incorporating restorative justice practices into workplace restorations.
