I hold a Bachelor of Music in Orchestral Performance, and I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Community Music program at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Teaching music lessons is my passion, and I love to watch students learn and grow. I discovered my love for music at a young age with the piano and saxophone and am so grateful for a thriving career in the KW music community. I have spent the past 20+ years building a career as a performer, clinician, accompanist and private instructor for woodwinds, piano and music theory. Since 2022 I have been the Coordinator for the KW Kiwanis Music Festival, and recently the founder of the Kiwanis Music Education Fund, a bursary program helping those who can’t afford the cost of music lessons.
Most of my students come to me as beginners, but I work with intermediate- and advanced-level students as well. I'm happy to work with people of all ages and my students range from young kids to seniors. I believe in holding a high standard of practice and using positive and encouraging methods to help students reach their full potential. Although it is not a requirement, I support my students in doing Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams and performing in the music festivals. Those who participate have achieved high grades and top placements. I also support my students in recital participation – even the shy ones! This is a great way to grow confidence and motivation both in music and in our daily lives.
You will find me active in the Kitchener-Waterloo area as a performer, and I really enjoy getting involved in all styles of music. You might find me sitting in an orchestra or getting my groove on with one of my rock bands. Most recently I’ve been playing with Pearl: A Janice Joplin Experience, The Crazy Diamonds Band, Stealing Dan, Lofi Mind Folk Collective, the Royal City Sax Quartet and the Wellington Wind Symphony. I've played saxophones, flute and clarinet for many musical theatre productions in KW and Guelph. Some of my recent shows include Guys & Dolls, The Adams Family, Bye Bye Birdie, Suessical the Musical, Shrek the Musical, Grease and The Wizard of Oz.
