I am currently a PhD candidate in Laurier's Faculty of Social Work. My research area is a practice-based exploration of people with intellectual disabilities and their experiences of grief after a death. I received my MSW from the University of Toronto in 1993, my BSW from Ryerson University in 1991, and a Bachelor of Education (Adult Education) from Brock University in 2012.
In 2017, I was awarded MADD Canada's Citizen of Distinction Award for my work with youth victims of impaired driving. In 2012, I was presented with the Bay Area Community Bereavement Achievement Award for my long term work in developing and facilitating support programs for bereaved children, youth and young adults with bereaved families of Ontario, Hamilton/Burlington.
