I received my PhD in Political Science (International Relations) from Queen’s University in 1993, and my MA in Political Science from UBC in 1985.
Prior to joining Laurier, I was the John M. Olin Fellow in Economics and National Security, at the Center for International Affairs, Harvard University (1992-93). I completed the Russian Studies certificate at Moscow State University, in 1995-96.
The main focus of my research is on post-conflict transitional justice, with particular focus on ‘local’ responses to ‘international’ projects and interventions. I have conducted field research in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Kosovo and Uganda, though I am interested in these issues on a global basis.
I continue to maintain interest in issues related to Canadian and U.S. security and defence policy, NATO, and defence industrial base policies.
